Makayla

Makayla, my niece's daughter, has been a part of my life since she was a baby, and I've had the privilege of photographing her over the years. Now, at 15, she has become a key part of my photography business. Last summer, Makayla stepped into the role of my assistant for many of my photo sessions, and she has been an incredible help. From assisting with the children, to carrying and collecting props and equipment, she has always been eager to pitch in with whatever is needed.

One of the special perks of being my assistant is that, after a busy session, we sometimes carve out some time to focus on her—capturing portraits that are all about Makayla. However, the downside is that when I’m in the midst of a busy season with client sessions, hers often ends up at the bottom of my to-do list.

Now that I'm caught up, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for Makayla. She has been a fantastic assistant and a true joy to work with. These portraits are just a few of her favorites from this past summer, and I am so happy to finally share them.
